Jo Nettleton is the Environment Agency’s interim Chief Scientist. She leads talented people in the Chief Scientist’s Group working on science, research, innovation, data analysis and reporting on the state of the environment.
Jo provides scientific advice to SAGE during major incidents and has extensive experience in the public sector, having worked previously for the NHS, Health & Safety Executive and Nuclear Installations Inspectorate. She is also a governor of Edge Hill University and a member of the IAEA Fukushima Task Force.
Thirty years ago, the Environment Agency first opened its doors. It had a clear dual purpose: to protect the environment and support sustainable development.
